GetResponse is no longer “just email”

It would be inaccurate to compare Systeme.io with GetResponse as if GetResponse were only a newsletter sender. The current GetResponse pricing structure has three standard plans: Starter, Marketer and Creator. Marketer adds unlimited automation workflows, ecommerce tools and sales funnels. Creator adds webinars, a website builder, online courses and paid newsletters.

That makes this a comparison between two increasingly broad platforms—but they still have different centers of gravity.

Email marketing and automation

GetResponse's strongest case is email depth. Its official help documentation lists conditions and actions for automation such as link clicks, message opens, tags, scores, purchases, abandoned carts, visited URLs and dynamic segmentation on eligible plans. Marketer and Creator can create unlimited workflows; Starter is deliberately limited.

Systeme.io also provides campaigns, automation rules, workflows and tags, with limits increasing across tiers. For typical creator sequences—welcome, nurture, purchase onboarding—it may be enough. But businesses whose strategy depends on detailed behavioral automation should examine GetResponse more closely.

Winner: GetResponse for sophisticated email automation.

Funnels and selling

Systeme.io puts funnels at the center from the beginning: even its free tier currently includes three funnels, A/B testing, order bumps and a one-click upsell allowance. GetResponse puts full sales funnels on its Marketer tier, currently $59 per month at the 1,000-subscriber level.

If you are primarily trying to launch a simple digital-product funnel cheaply, Systeme.io has the cleaner economic case.

Winner: Systeme.io for cost-efficient funnel building.

Courses and creator monetization

GetResponse's Creator plan is more substantial than many buyers realize. Its current pricing page lists a course creator, up to 500 students, webinars, website builder and premium newsletter subscriptions. Its features page also lists quizzes, certificates and a student mobile app.

Systeme.io includes course delivery at a much lower price and connects it closely to its funnel and affiliate features. For a straightforward course business that is cost-sensitive, that can matter more than extra learning features.

Winner: GetResponse Creator on listed course-learning features; Systeme.io on accessibility and cost.

How the pricing models differ

Systeme.io's current plans are principally tiered around capacity and feature limits, with 2,000 contacts on Free and higher allowances on paid plans. GetResponse prices standard plans by both product tier and list size. Its own help center says billing scales across contact bands from 1,000 through 100,000 subscribers.

That means the price comparison can change materially as your list grows. Do not compare only the 1,000-contact headline price if you already have a sizable database.

Which should you choose?

Choose Systeme.io if…

  • You want to launch for $0.
  • Funnels and digital-product selling are central.
  • You want built-in affiliate management.
  • Your email automation needs are straightforward.
  • You want fewer moving parts at low cost.

Choose GetResponse if…

  • Email is your primary marketing channel.
  • You need more detailed behavioral automation.
  • Ecommerce email features such as abandoned-cart recovery matter.
  • You want webinars/courses alongside an email-first platform.
  • You are comfortable with list-size-based pricing.

Our verdict

Systeme.io wins for the budget-conscious funnel/creator business. It gets you to a working lead-to-sale system extremely cheaply.

GetResponse wins when email sophistication is the requirement that drives the purchase. If segmentation, scoring, ecommerce behavior and automation logic are central to revenue, the additional cost can be justified.
