Kartra is the heavier operational platform

Kartra's current product matrix stretches beyond funnels, pages and email into calendars, sales management, helpdesk, funnel simulation, advanced analytics, team access, agency capacity and API/custom-code features on higher plans. That breadth matters for businesses trying to consolidate more than marketing.

Systeme.io deliberately makes a different trade: it delivers a surprisingly broad online-business stack at very low cost, but it does not need to match every operations-oriented feature Kartra exposes to be useful.

Pricing and transaction fees

Systeme.io currently advertises a permanent free tier and 0% platform transaction fees across its plans. Kartra's current trial/pricing page lists Essentials at $59 per month and Starter at $119 per month. Kartra's help center states that the Essentials plan carries a 5% transaction fee on eligible sales, while other plans are not affected by that specific Kartra fee.

That makes Kartra Essentials a potentially misleading “cheap” comparison for a selling business: the subscription is lower than Starter, but the transaction fee can matter as revenue increases.

Funnels, analytics and campaign planning

Both products can build funnels. Systeme.io covers the conversion mechanics most small businesses expect: funnel steps, A/B tests, one-click upsells and order bumps.

Kartra adds more explicit campaign-planning and analysis layers. Its current plans reference funnel mapping, advanced analytics and, on higher tiers, funnel simulation and real-time funnel analytics. If your team actively models and analyzes multi-step campaigns, that extra layer can be valuable.

Winner: Kartra for analytical/campaign depth; Systeme.io for cost-efficient execution.

Email and automation

Systeme.io lists unlimited email sending on every current tier, with limits on campaigns, tags, rules and workflows scaling by plan. Kartra Essentials currently limits email/SMS volume, while Starter and above list unlimited email and SMS. Both products support automated sequences.

The deciding factor is likely to be how closely you need email tied to the rest of your operation. Kartra's broader sales-management/helpdesk environment may make more sense for a team; Systeme.io is easier to justify when you primarily need marketing automation.

Memberships, courses and customer operations

Kartra's membership system supports access levels and drip-style content control, and its Starter tier currently lists unlimited memberships and courses. Higher tiers also bring in more support and operational tooling.

Systeme.io can host courses and communities while keeping funnels and email in the same account. For a solo course creator, that may be enough without paying for Kartra's heavier business infrastructure.

Which should you choose?

Choose Systeme.io if…

  • You want a permanent free starting point.
  • You are a solo creator, affiliate or small online business.
  • You want affiliate management without moving to an expensive tier.
  • You need standard funnels, email and course delivery.
  • You value simplicity and low fixed cost.

Choose Kartra if…

  • You need helpdesk, calendars or broader sales operations.
  • You want deeper campaign mapping and analytics.
  • You manage a team or agency-style operation.
  • You need higher-capacity membership/course operations.
  • The additional operational tools replace other subscriptions you already pay for.

Our verdict

Systeme.io is the better default for a lean creator business. Its pricing makes it difficult to beat when your required stack is funnels + email + courses + affiliate tools.

Kartra is better treated as an operational upgrade, not merely an alternative funnel builder. Its higher cost makes sense when features such as advanced analytics, helpdesk, team access, agency capability or campaign planning replace tools you would otherwise buy separately.
